Bluefin says it will push on with MGA growth plans regardless
Stuart Reid has vowed to forge ahead with plans to ramp up Bluefin’s MGA activities after its bid to poach MGA Fusion Insurance managing director Nick Wright and underwriting director Stewart Gardiner ended unsuccessfully.
As Insurance Times reported, Bluefin had attempted to recruit the duo to grow its MGA division.

Florida House Approves Text-While-Driving Ban

On Wednesday, May 1, the Florida House of Representatives passed, in a 110-6 vote, its version of a law that would ban texting while operating a motor vehicle, but the legislation may not be enacted as it stands, because the state Senate must approve an amendment to the bill.
The amendment in question would allow law enforcement officers to use, as evidence against them, the mobile phone records of drivers whose texting causes a crash resulting in personal injury or death but ONLY in such cases.
It is that change that must be approved by the Senate before the legislation has a chance of being enacted.
Zurich to refund $4.5 million in disability premiums to New Yorkers

Zurich American Insurance Co, has agreed to refund $4.56 million to policyholders of its New York statutory disability insurance policies because the insurer failed to spend at least 60% of total premiums on claims as required under law.
The money is being refunded to about 73,000 policyholders through an agreement with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS).
