Driverless cars may be coming but insurers say not for a while

While state-of-the-art technology has increased car safety and comfort, it hasnt developed to a point where theyll be able to drive themselves.

Or has it?

As the Chicago Sun-Times* recently reported, the notion of self-driving cars is not just an idea, but a reality. Google, for example, has put driverless vehicles to the test in California, and Nevadas governor recently sat in the passenger seat when he went for a test drive with no one behind the wheel.

Even though some auto experts and technology gurus say driverless cars are not a matter of if but when, some auto insurance companies are trying to figure out how theyll be insured.

Road rage attacker publicly apologizes to victim

John Antonacci, a longtime professional driver, recently experienced road rage for the first time when he verbally attacked a woman after she honked at him while he was trying to switch lanes, according to the Quad City Times. However, what was truly unique is the way he responded to the incident.

Eaten away by guilt, which was further confounded by the fact that the woman had her two daughters in the car, Antonacci set out to apologize the best way he knew how – through the internet.

When he arrived home, he wrote the local newspaper an open letter to the woman “in the red car,” giving his “most sincere apology,” the paper reported.

“Instead of just ignoring you, I jumped out of my truck and started yelling and swearing at you.
