While theres no shortage of car brands to choose from when consumers are looking to buy a new car, survey results indicate many shoppers dont find much of a difference among the various options, particularly as it relates to high-priced and more affordable models.
According to the Consumer Reports National Research Center and its 2012 Car-Brand Perception Survey*, the difference noted by consumers between car brands has become increasingly negligible.
Perception scores overall have dropped off
In previous years, Toyota, Ford, Honda and Chevrolet scored high, but their scores have trended lower recently.
Jeff Bartlett, deputy editor for autos online at Consumer Reports, said economic events have had an impact on car shoppers perceptions.
“Dramatic events in the automotive industry seem to be affecting how consumers view auto brands,” said Bartlett.

The study was focused in New York City, NY. It showed that the disabled pay $600 more than nondisabled do. The authors of the study argue that insurance companies are getting around the law that prevents this by charging extra fees to motorists with disabilities rather than charging higher rates. The extra types of coverage are Adaption coverage, mobility insurance, and equipment coverage.
