Toyota and Microsoft team up for digital media service

Microsoft and Toyota have partnered up to develop an energy management system for plug-in cars that may even extend to home energy use in the future.

Toyota president Akio Toyoda and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer held a joint webcast last week to announce the creation of the Toyota Media Service, which will provide the data service to drivers. The companies are reportedly investing $12 million into the venture.
The system is initially being developed for the new plug-in Prius, which is set to be released in 2012.

Having a Commercial Driver License means that you are held to a higher standard than regular motorists are. This is because of the dangerous materials you can carry and the size of the vehicle you drive. Because you were a commercial driver and got a DUI while you were driving a commercial vehicle, you cannot get a restricted license for work. The only kind of license you would be eligible for would be a restricted Class C only for the purpose of driving to or from a treatment program.

During the Great Recession, fewer people could afford to buy cars and many of those who could, were still influenced by financial restrictions. This may have resulted in individuals putting less importance on brand. However, as the economy improves and the number of new car buyers has increased 13 percent, according to R.L. Polk, some carmakers have been able to maintain their customers’ loyalty.

According to the results of a recent survey by R.L. Polk, 63 percent of Ford owners buying new cars, including the Lincoln models, purchased another Ford vehicle.

As automakers experiment with cars that utilize alternative technologies to fossil fuels to power our cars, electric vehicles are slowly beginning to become viable choices for some Americans, with options that include the Nissan Leaf and the Chevrolet Volt. We say some Americans because the limited range most electric cars offer. Of the two cars above, were bigger fans of the Volt, just because it offers the ability to fall back on gasoline once youve exhausted the range of the batteries.
And while Americans do have options, theyre very limited.
The Bryan Brothers Take Yet Another Trophy

Last night, at The Standard Biergarten in NYC, the Bryan Brothers and 15 other highly skilled table tennis teams squared off in the Esurance Open. Biergarten patrons enjoyed German-style pub grub while 30 enthusiastic locals put on their game faces and competed to see who, if anyone, would topple the world’s winningest men’s doubles team.
The Tennis Channel’s own Justin Gimelstob emceed the event and Susan Sarandon(!) and Esurance’s Chief Marketing Officer John Swigart also stopped by.
