For the electric car industry, February just wasn’t it’s month. In fact, at least so far, 2011 hasn’t been its year.
According to Chevrolet’s February sales release, a paltry 281 Chevy Volts – the company’s electric car – were sold nationwide, representing 0.1 percent of its total sales.
Nissan didn’t fare much better in electric vehicle sales. Nissan, which unveiled its Leaf model in December as a more affordable alternative, moved just 67 in February and has sold just 173 for the year.
Combined, 1,101 electric vehicles have been sold nationwide in 2011.
Overall, however, car sales for both companies were quite swift last month.

When your point total reaches 12 or higher within 12 months your license will be suspended for 60 days. Some infractions and their point values are:
• Failure to give aid after an accident – 6 points
• Weaving in a traffic lane – 4 points
• Failure to dim bright headlights – 3 points
• Depriving another vehicle the use of a full lane – 2 points
