A recent study sure makes it sound like insurance companies are doing this. The survey shows that disabled motorists pay more on average than nondisabled motorists do. The study was focused in New York City, NY. It showed that the disabled pay $600 more than nondisabled do. The authors of the study argue that insurance companies are getting around the law that prevents this by charging extra fees to motorists with disabilities rather than charging higher rates.
